I would go with one of the already existing colors instead of adding another color. Maybe you could paint a base color of either gray or dark brown, then do a top coat of ivory and distress them so the darker base color comes through, drawing in more than one color from the room.
you have described a mixture of un matched furniture.before you think about the coffee and end table you need to think on blending the rest of the furniture.Think in terms of using one color and highlighting with hints of color.before you do anything I would suggest to browse websites for decorating
I think peach would be nice for all the woodwork, to give your room a peaches-and-cream look. Then add some burnt orange throw pillows and also some dark brown ones. Add a cream-colored afghan for the loveseat and beige drapes or brown Roman shades.
I would go with black or gray - there are some great chalk paint colors in different shades of gray that would work nicely.
I agree with Cindy and Congratulations!
Don't try and be 'an old couple' so soon with an old style-set house. Enjoy a bright red or yellow. You will never forget them and later as you, in time, 'mellow your yellows' they will remind your fun times.
The black and dark gray are related, the ivory and brown are pretty neutral colors, light blue stands out!! If you don't have any other colors, which you probably do, I would suggest the light blue with either dark gray or tan. Other suggestion, paint tv console, coffee table and end table all the same color, perhaps ivory!
i should have specified— the current coffee table and end table are an oak. I would like to pick one of the others (Black, gray, or blue)
