CANS and WIRE shelves!

I hate those wire shelves! need organization ideas for can and bottles; I have tile floors and I'm scared to death those shelves are gonna break and dump all this stuff on the floor! shelves are 12 " deep; I've tried stacking only a few of cans/bottles on the shelves and spacing them out where the brackets are, but they still pull out from the wall and bow the shelves. Any suggestions? ready to cut wood boards but hubby says no. any ideas for organizing these types of shelves is much appreciated! thanks

if the shelf is pulling away from the wall then stop using it and reattach it to the wall at a stud. If the shelf bows down add additional brackets to support the weight.

If they are pulling away from the wall, then adding wood shelves will not help. The shelves have to be attached to wall area that will support the shelves, full. I used foam board on some of my shelves to help keep more organized and distribute weight. Just buy foam board at a big box retail store and cut to fit shelves. But again, if they are pulling away from the wall, this needs to be addressed first.

You could also put a carpet runner underneath the shelving over the tiles.

First, make sure the unit is attached to the wall with heavy-duty screws going into the studs. I’m afraid that your hubby will have to relinquish the wood idea. I strongly recommend a thin piece of plywood laid over the top of the wire shelves. This will help to evenly distribute the weight throughout the entire shelf.

First make sure the brackets are screwed into the wall studs. If so get longer screws. Make sure you get wood screws. Then get more brackets to add more support, again screwing into the wall studs. Laying foam board over the wire is a good suggestion since wood will add more weight.
