Not true...the squirrels in my area come right onto the porch with my dogs going nuts through the glass door. They couldn't care less.
I had the same problem. I found that spreading urine from a predator didn't work if that predator isn't in your neck of the woods. I used all types of repellant and it got expensive because it rained a lot. Get yourself a couple of live traps and a jar of crunchy peanut butter for bait and watch your traps fill up. You then can do with them whatever you want. The first week I had caught 25 of those tree climbing rats.
