Do you perhaps have the wrong charger cord? Get the model number of your mower and check the Black and Decker website to see which charger cord is the correct one. It may be an easy fix.
Check to see if the pins in either the receptacle are bent or missing. Is it still under warranty? I would check that. We had the bag on our toro blower/vacuum/shredder break at the zipper. We called about ordering a new bag for it and they literally sent us a replacement bag for nothing and the thing is three years old. They said they had been having problems with the zippers breaking, so we got one for nothing out of only making a call with a question because we couldn't find anywhere that carried the replacement. Never hurts to try!
Any chance it's the wrong charger. Make sure your using the proper charger for it.

Have you checked with a small engine repair place about your problem? They may be able to get one, but I don't know if you would be able to repair it yourself. It may just be a module that snaps in, but I am sure that it will have wiring that will need to be dealt with that isn't something many people can do themselves successfully by themselves. I am sure it could be jury rigged so that you could charge it, but it would be dealing with bare wires on both ends and may be risky both for you and for the lawnmower. It may be better to get it done at a small engine repair shop if it can be repaired. Good luck with finding a way to repair it. They just don't make things like they used to so that they lasted for many years with just basic care of the product.
