If this dresser has value, it would be to your advantage to have it professionally refinished.
1. If that's not an option, you can clean the top well and use clean finger nail polish. Brush the polish in one direction and let dry. Use finger nail polish remover and gently go over the area to smooth down.
2. If you don't want to use polish you can use furniture wax. These are sticks you can purchase. You would use the lightest one available. Rub into the scratches and using a clean soft cloth buff flat.
In both scenarios the scratches will lessen but not be invisible.
Good luck.
It might depend on the depth of the scratches And your comfort level attempting a rehab.
Those wax filler crayons can fill small areas.
Larger deep areas may need more work. We damaged a golden mahogany dresser found on Craig's List transpoting it home. I filled the defect with wood filler ( comes in a tub) painted, used the minwax markers to restain. Put beeswax over as a final polish. While not perfect -it's acceptable- an improvement
If you’re planning on refinishing the wood and the scratches aren’t too deep, you can sand down until the scratches are gone and then refinish.
