Making bunk beds from antique or vintage METAL twins

I know I'll have to use both headboards on bottom and footboards top. I am concerned about the weight of the iron beds obviously safety is an issue! I'm certain it can be done but has anyone been successful, have any tips/ pointers you're willing to share? The legs of the beds are tapered/square, but the headboards have Rounded outside edges ..... I'm thinking to cut square holes into top of headboard that the legs will fit into ..... Not sure about additional support and securing so the don't move around ...." Another big consideration is that these beds have metal side rails that are like tounge and grove or ??? Technical term , but they fit into each end much like a puzzle piece with a 2-PC anchor, support, tightening device that goes around it with a bolt going through to prevent them from moving or detaching. Also thought they should probably be anchored to wall to further prevent accidental collapse etc. ...... Suggestions please
