You can do it but it does not last. I did it and it lasted a few weeks before it started chipping.
chalk paint and wax afterwards
been 3 years still going great.
one coat wait till dry and get wax also from chalk paint annie sloan website you will see. even leather you can paint with it. i have put a double coat of wax on bathroom walls. nothing is dripping or whatsoever past 3 years
