You would be better off donating it to Goodwill, where it will go to someone who needs it. Using a commode for seating is not sanitary.
First off, I'd sanitize super well which won't take much! Then I'd choose a cool paint color for the chair and coordinating material and paint it then make a seat cover and some arm covers with the material! May need to remove the lid and replace with a firmer lid if you really want to use it for seating.
Call you local charities or adult homes and ask if they could use it
Hello! You will be glad to know that you are not alone in wanting to “upcycle” your no-longer-needed commode! I am providing an online link to a fascinating article about . . . toilets that I think you will find interesting. In the meantime, you could add a soft pillow for seating and use the tank for storage. There are a few suggestions in the article, too — one of them may appeal to you:

I agree with the other posters. I would clean it thoroughly and donate it to Goodwill or maybe a nursing home. Someone else can use it.
As an Occupational Therapist whomis always in he hunt for these at a reasonable price, donate! Or better yet put it away for hard times for yourself or someone in your family! I don't think themake very attractive chairs.
Perhaps offer it via Craigslist or some other platform in trade for a chair? That way you would get the seating you want and someone who needs one would get a commode.
