Hollow interior door are really cheap costing less than $30. Save yourself a hassle and just get a new door.
Patching a hole in a hollow door almost always fails and cracks because the door moves, gets slammed, etc. Measure the height, width, and depth of your door, then go to your local lumber yard and buy a new door. They are not expensive, and you can just buy the door without the frame. If you need help installing the door, look up a handyman on Angie's List or Home Advisor. It is an easy job, but you must have tools and some knowledge to reset the hinges. You can re-use the hinges and knob from the old door.
I had the same. I tried everything nothing work. Then I decided to get a piece of luan to cover the whole door stained the same color it was and it worked. I hope this helps. Good luck
Get a flexible piece of plastic (like a cutting mat), cut it a little larger than the hole. Pull a strong string through the middle and work the plastic into the door. Put glue around the edges of the plastic and hold it in place by the string until it stays. When glue dries, cut the string and drywall putty or BONDO the hole area. Sand, paint and it should be okay.
i used a cover up....mounted a bathroom type pic ina frame and parked it over the hole.
Agree with above. It would be a tricky cosemetic repair to undertake and be completely satisfied with. Supplies to fix may not be cost effective vs buying new door.
