You can use a small roller, look for one that has a short nap on it.
I just use a regular chalk paint brush and go side to side. Down one side, turn a little, side to side all the way down. all the way around. Found this to be the easiest way. Also I kind of like how it looks, although, enough coats, u Won’t be able to tell which way u did it.

Small ones are easier on table legs
I like foam brushes whenever possible, although chalk paint and other textured paints are rough on foam brushes. 😇
