I do not recall seeing the article you speak of, but perhaps you are thinking of CLUB SODA...THAT will NOT leave streaks...Just be sure to rub it enough to see when there is evaporation of the moisture...Believe me, it works quickly!
You will be able to wipe down your windows even in the sunlight, and this is also great for mirrors, and MANY things...ALL around the kitchen, like the counters and micro...You will love it!!

I had rather use ammonia and water, or vinegar and water. Works summer or winter. 😇
My mil taught me quick trick with cornstarch and warm water. Use wash cloth and the milky liquid-wipe window or glass down and it is so clear my hubby walks into it everytime
The easiest way to leave windows streak free is to put plain white vinegar in a spray bottle, spray the glass, and wipe it clean with newspapers. It works like magic....your windows will sparkle like new.
there is a window cleaner recipe that does call for cornstarch. 1/4 th cup rubbing alcohol, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 tbs cornstarch, 2 cups warm water. mix and spray.
