There maybe a way that you can paint it, just enough to darken it, to match your furniture. Ask a paint dept. man about this, ok? J.
Since it's wood, you can gel stain it and protect with polyurethane. Gel stain will go over the existing finish without sanding. I'd use a cherry wood stain. It will add richness and really complement your black furniture. Good luck.
You could paint it metallic, it does not need to be go,d or silver but, perhaps a pewter like color to go with the black.
How about white washing it?
