If you need to redo your bathroom floor, remove the toilet, do the floor, then put the toilet back on. That way, you will not have to work around the base of the toilet as you are installing your new flooring. Plus, you will have a nicer finish on the floor if the toilet is sitting on top of the new floor.

Tile or flooring first then the toilet... remember to get a new wax ring... don't reuse the old one... and it is a good time to replace the mounting hardware that allows for the thickness of the new flooring.. if needed... and put in "no burst" water line(s) and new shut off valves .

There's necessary and then there is urgent! If you can walk safely on the bathroom floor, , old or not, it has to take a back seat (pun intended) to the toilet seat.
