Is driftwood paint a color? Whether the surface is varnished, Formica, laminate or another shiny surface, clean it first, then sand it. Either barely scuff it up so the paint will adhere, or sand the entire surface off. Use chemical sealer removers if you have to. Then clean it again. Use a primer unless you are using chalk paint. Then add more coats of paint to get the coverage you want, sanding lightly between coats. Distress or use other techniques, if you wish. Then apply a sealer to preserve the paint, and use high gloss to have that shiny surface again. Best wishes 😇
Sand the shiny finish off, or try using a liquid deglosser to remove the shine. Use primer after deglossing for better results.
What brand/type driftwood paint works the best? I tried rustoleum barn wood paint and it just looked like gray chalk paint.
