Interesting, I have never heard that. There are a number of ways to kill crabgrass. I use boiling water and vinegar. I prefer not to use chemicals. Pets and visiting children. There are class action lawsuits for some of the common weed killing remedies as they may cause cancer. Here are a few links!

Just watch the vinegar, it will kill anything it touches, above, or in the soil, including grass and plants. Avoid getting it on anything you want to keep.

If you can still see the crabgrass plants, you can dig them out with a trowel. Put the plants in a plastic bag as soon as you dig them out. You don’t want seed, pollen, or roots dropping back into the soil. 😇
