What to do about squeeze stairs

My 1961 split level has squeeze stairs. ANNOYING! How do I fix it. Treads are maple in excellent shape. Just refinished. Thx.

I'm going to assume, you meant squeaky stairs. I had this problem in my former home, and went to the space under the stairs and used some screws to pull the stair treads tighter to the wood risers and the kick plate. Make sure you use screws that are shorter than the treads, so they don't go thru the wood.

you have a picture, there are many kinds.....
IF you really have "squeeze" stairs.... meaning that they are to narrow, you really need to make them wider.
