My mother's church basement is where we have been storing our dahlia tubers each winter but I'd like to find out where other people store theirs. My basement is too warm, garage too cold...I live in Michigan! Thanks

In a paper bag in the basement, cellar, or unheated spare room or storage room that won't get as cold as if out of doors under ground

Do you have coat closet that stays cooler than the main room?

I do! We own a two story home that the contractor built storage above the upstairs staircase that stays cooler because it's not insulated. Great idea, thanks!!!

Hello. I do store mine in the basement. I put them in a paper bag with peat moss. My basement stays around 65 and they do fine.

Thanks for your reply! I'm amazed the tubers do ok in 65 degrees, so glad to hear it! I am storing tubers in wood shavings in boxes that will keep them dry/dark. Hopefully that helps, thanks!

You can probably store in your garage since it's cold. Put them in wood shaving in a cardboard box. The key is it has to be dark and dry.

Thanks for your reply! I've heard that the tubers need to be stored between 40-45 degrees over the winter, and my garage gets colder than that. I'm afraid they'll freeze.
