Hello. They can live in the dirt. I would get new potting soil and put the old in a garbage bag and throw it away. Remove as much of the soil around the roots to assure you get rid of them. Good Luck!
Spray the ivy leaves (and the soil) with a mixture of Dawn dishwashing liquid, vegetable oil and water. It should safely eliminate the aphids. Double check the leaves before bringing it inside.
Yes. What they don't like is cold, but English ivy can cope as a rule very well.......
Are you sure they're aphids?
yes,you have to re-pot in fresh soil and sprays all the upper and lower leaves of the plant
