Well, ceramics are fairly easy. Put tape over the area, use a special bit for ceramics and put a drop of oil down. Do it slowly so as to not over heat it. Glass is more difficult do to the shatter faction. You CAN NOT DRILL TEMPERED GLASS, IT WILL SHATTER EVERY TIME!

I do drill glass bottles to insert fairy lights. It is easy to use a dremel with the small bits with diamonds on it. While drilling I let water drip down on the spot to be drilled for cooling. Don't use too much pressure. It's really easy and doesn't take much time. Just be careful not to hold your Dremel under water - this is pretty dangerous! But just dripping water on the drilling area is great. You can also use a flexible shaft on a Dremel, if you have.
