Try rubbing coconut oil on the furniture with a micro fiber cloth
Yes. Buy “Minwax wax” at Home Depot. It is used like waxing a car. Wax on wax off. It is a lot of work but very nice results.

I would go by the consensus of antique dealers. I my self use Murphy's, Old English, and lemon oil depending on the piece that I am doing.
I would add Danish Oil also as the choice of antique houses, selected by species of wood for the right color..... adds beauty to any old piece. https://vintagerevivals.com/2017/02/mysterious-magic-danish-oil
Because antique has a varnish finish, furniture paste wax is what I use on all my antique furniture. Before I apply, I use a cheap paint brush and clean out all the nooks and crannies. Apply a thin coat and buff dry. In between waxes, I use a feature duster sprayed with End Dust. Hope this helps.
