sand paper, sand it back to its original state.
hi, if you are asking about the handle of the hammer (usually rubber or plastic) i would use eucalyptus oil, see how this goes then perhaps some corn starch or then maybe a coat of clear nail polish. if you don't have eucalyptus oil, you could even try the nail polish remover. good luck.
