Try spraying the bottom of the chairs or cushion with noxious odor lightly.i would think their noses are more sensitive than ours,so a little goes a long way.try soaking some rosemary in water for several hours, then pour into a spray bottle,if that doesn't work maybe try hot sauce to the water .wd40 is pretty noxious too if the other 2 ideas don't work. Good luck!

I wonder if you spray the area with vinegar if that would chase them away. You can look on line for ideas too.

If it continues to be a problem, I would simply trap them and turn them over to the local pound. Once their owners have paid to get them back a few times, They **MAY** start paying more attention to their animals. I had problems with cats getting into my garbage cans and this worked for me. 30 bucks for a trap and a couple of tins of cat food and three trips to the pound = no more problem!

You can get some beautiful yet high metal fences for your yard wwhich would make the cats stay away from straying into your patio or getting near your furniture. Also you can keep some napthalene balls near the furniture, cats don't like that smell.

I agree with james Richard. I think if more people would understand that while cats may keep your rodent problem under control they kill so many birds-and they aren't choosy--that they are a real problem. not to mention the mess they leave in the flower and vegetable beds. so cat people if you're reading these posts take care of your animals and show some consideration for your neighbors.

A girl at the car wash said to keep them off my car to cut a orange in half and place it on the car by the wipers, that cats hate the smell and will stay off so maybe it would help on the patio as well.

I have used perfume or cologne that I no longer wear. Put it on a bit of cloth or cotton ball and put it on the chair. Their sensitive noses will keep them away from it.

Moth balls. The neighborhood cats were using my flower-filled urns for their own personal restroom. I put a few mothballs in each and no more cat problem. They can't stand the smell of mothballs. :)
