Other than a ferret who naturally stinks, regular bathing of a dog is advisable. If it's a cat, good luck. If it's a sicky smell, there may be something wrong with your pet and you need to visit a vet.

If it’s a dog, use Murphys Oil Soap. I’ve worked with and trained dogs for more than 40 years. It’s my ‘go to‘ for both stinky dogs as well as dogs with skin issues due to allergies. Not only does it help with the allergi, but the dogs smell great and as an added benefit, it’s really inexpensive.

Did you try sprinkling her with a little baby powder and then brush it out?

Hi Pam, you could try and hang a car air freshener under the chair, plus, you can buy product's from your local supernarket for pets, that you shake, or spray on furniture, then vac off leaving a lasting fresh smell. Maybe spraying the blanket with air freshener to, before dog uses it proving dog dosen't have any allergies to air freshener spray's? Alternatively go to your local pet shop and ask them for advise. Hope thus is helpful. Kay Adelaide Australia

what kind of pet do you have?

  • She needs a bath and launder her blankets and bedding frequently. If she still smells, she needs a vet visit to make sure there is not an underlying medical reason.

Why are you humoring this pet? Stop wrapping it in a blanket just because it likes it. My dog liked to sleep in the middle of the kitchen which was unacceptable. We trained him to do otherwise. Or, wash the blanket every single day. Exercise your dominance !

one my pet isn't just a pet she is a member of the family and we work together, she is very well behaved and she is very protective as she has been trained to be, she is getting on in years and this has just started really being a problem, I bath her on a daily basis and she will always have a blanket to snuggle in, the same as I do if I want one, also in between baths I wipe her down with deodorant wipes, and her blankets are changed on a daily basis and more if needed and always washed and cleaned... I also clean and disinfect the chair... thank you for your advise....

Checking with the vet is always a good idea incase there is an infection that is difficult for a layman to detect. On some animals, Ive heard that a bath with Dawn dishwashing soap may help. Might want to clear that with the vet too. You also might want to try it on one spot first make sure the skin doesn't react to it. Good luck
