What is the sunlight like in that area and what would you LIKE to do with it?

  • Awesome! I would turn it into a herb and vegetable garden.

A raised or container vegetable garden would be a good thing to put there depending on how much sunlight it gets...and the area of the country you are in and artificial grass would make a great base to set them on.

Container gardens can be tailored to the specific area of the country.. And the plants that are normally sold there will do well there... and I did specify "depending on how much sunlight the area gets and the area of the country you are in " There are plants that will grow well in shady areas, cooler areas, and hot areas (like here in AZ) Artificial turf will be a good way to cover the area and it will look good too, allow for drainage, even with snow.. no need to weed wack or mow.. and at the very least put color into that area (where regular grass might not grow)

The long skinny area would be ideal for containers, my personal preference is for the 2 ft x 2ft x 4ft horse troughs or stock tanks as they hold a lot of soil, are deep enough for most root systems, even small trees (like citrus) and, for their size, reasonably priced (about $90 Lowe's) plus you don't have to bend over so far to work in them and they don't look bad as they are, but can be painted, AND they don't break like ceramic pots (have you priced those babies in the jumbo sizes) or rot out as quickly as wood. The trash cans are a smaller (cheaper) substitute and would still look good.

You can also do a flower garden next to the herb and vegetable garden!
