I would blend with paint, and keeping your fabrics the same on big pieces, and use complimentary and coordinating fabrics for your accents.
Area rugs can also be used to define different areas in the room.
Visit Houzz.com. There are many people lots of them professionals who can help you with it. You have to set up a profile I think and then it will tell you how to post under design dilemmas. Post pictures of the room (or people will ask you to before they can help) and you should get lots.
Area rugs are a great tool when making different "areas" in the same room. Also, think of hotel lobbies and how they define spaces with furniture and plants. Try to use pieces that can be moved around a bit if you need extra seating in different sections. Hope this helps you.
I found websites like this really helpful when I was moving into my apt http://www.roomsketcher.com/interior-design/ this way you can visualize the size of the room with your particular furniture needs- I'm all about using the furniture to shape the space- good luck! keep us posted!

Just a bit if advice. I have a 20 X 20 room that we use for entertaining and I have two separate seating areas. The problem is that all of the electric outlets are on the walls which is fine however in such a large room I have difficulty making the center of the room bright enough. If you are doing a major remodel my advice is to consider recessed ceiling lighting on dimmers. Good luck with your remodel - I hope you love the results!
thank you
