In old houses I have visited, I have seen a variety of inexpensive things used as a backsplash, mainly behind the range and sink, and often behind the counters. These include: cardboard, painted cardboard, automobile paint, tin, aluminum, tin from on the roof, aluminum eaves flashing, car tags, composite shingles, bricks broken in half for less thickness, floor tiles, lineoleum,

and wood, both finished and raw sawn. If you use paint or sealer on your tin, make sure it is heat resistant, rustproof and waterproof. And watch for rust with any metal, even aluminum, because so many metal goods we buy are actually alloys. ๐Ÿ˜‡

i love the tin and hope to install in my kitchen one day. There are many different patterns, so my suggestion would be to visit you local DIY store to see the selections. Measure your back splash area in length and width and take the measurements with you, ask for help and ask questions. Happy tin hunting!
