Larger pendants might get in your way, but the shadows will be decreased because the light will overlap. In a kitchen, visibility is very important. You will be using and washing knives and other sharp instruments. If you have the height, go for larger. 😇
I guess that it depends on what the bulbs put out on one vs. the other.
Maybe you might want to consider installing a track light ???
Several things to consider. The asthetics of how they look in the space and light output so that you have enough light to actually see what you are doing. What other lighting is in the kitchen? My kitchen is small by most standards, but it has 3 sources for ceiling lighting. He much time do you spend in the kitchen? Do you cook often and need task lighting or is it just for looks? Just yesterday I picked up a new light fixture for over my kitchen sink and first I looked for style and found one one that gave me the amount of light I need. Another thing to consider is style of bulb. The new LED's, halogen or standard compact type bulb? Warm white or cool white or natural light? All these things make a difference. If you have the option, go to a good lighting store if only to see the different bulb options and the "color" it throws when in use. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the input. Now I feel more comfortable when choosing those lights.
We found that the new LED bulbs put out more light and use less electricity the older CFL's. The size of the bulb will dictate the amount of light generally. Walmart has some good prices on LED's.
