Wallpaper has been on the wall for 17 years, it's time to refresh with paint. How do you take the paper down?
I'm afraid it'll be a long hard slog. Look along bottom or top to see if you can find a corner and start steady pull, Then it's a Wallpaper Scraper you will need for most of the rest...............

I used to hire a wallpaper guy who would spray down the walls with a mixture of water and fabric softener to loosen the glue of the wallpaper so it came off easier. Good luck getting it all off.
Try half fabric softener & water in spray bottle with medal scraper sharpened on one side. Since wood behind it just pock small holes & spray & work in small area & keep spraying as you take off. Make shore you put paper or plastic down on floor. Wash wall with vinegar & water (half & half) to get glue off. Good luck.
Start by taking it down. Buy a paint tray, a roller and a handle for the roller. Next, put warm-hot water in the tray. Take the rollor with handle and drag the roller out of the water. Roll the wall, from the bottom up. Roll the wallpaper, then with a wide putty knife, scrape the wall from the bottom up. When all the paper is removed, wash the walls with a sponge and warm water to remove the glue. Buy the paint roller handle where you get your paint.
Thank you for the feedback. I never thought of fabric softener.
