Burlap for costume

Gail@Purple Hues and Me on Mar 23, 2014Walmart has a variety of burlap fabric at great prices but on the other hand, you can use coupons at fabric stores which can make the burlap there much cheaper. Sorry I can't help you with making a voodoo doll Halloween costume out of burlap fabric . . . I think it would be too rough to wear. A voodoo doll is made from someone's likeness, isn't it, so you can stick pins in it or put a curse on the person? That's too funny! Sorry, I'm not making fun. It just sounds so hilarious.Helpful Reply

Sandra K Salisbury on May 04, 2016Burlap can be purchased in lots of different colors at 'JoAnn's'. Could you use fabric glue? You wouldn't have to make seams with the edges inside the garment, let the edges show on the outside and it would look crudely constructed and more like a voodoo dolls garment. You could then run long stitches on the edges beside the glue. You could even run a piece of yarn or whatever you're 'sewing' with, around the neck opening and close it around the neck with the drawstring. As for allergies, the burlap that is purchased in a shop is processed for home use as opposed to using a burlap bag that is used for storing lots of different substances. I just recently purchased, from our huge 'Craft Warehouse', large burlap bags that had held coffee beans. MMMMM love the aroma! I plan to use them to cover small stools that need some zip to them.Helpful Reply
