Try rubbing a small amout of oil on the residue
Goo Gone. or WD-40
Goo Gone is my best choice for sticky residue. After getting the residue off you will need to wetten the area to remove any oiliness left behind. Small bottle last long, long time. it also removes stickers, gum, tar, crayon marks and lipstick marks from counters. I use it often for all these especially sticky residue from tape and duct tape.
Peanut butter works wonders.

Rub a little peanut butter on it. Then use a little dish soap and water.
Use tell based hand sanitizer. It effortlessly removes adhesive residue. It works amazingly on “pitch” on cars as well and will not hurt the paint. We all know how had that is to get off!
Rubbing alcohol gets rid of the sticky substance.
Goof Off, it's wonderful...any big box or hardware store.
