what can i do to save my rhubarb its never been the same since the possums cleared it out its been 2 yrs since this happened ?

I would dig up the root and move it to a new location. Put lots of compost in the hole before planting and it should come back okay.
^^ I agree - I would lift it, give it a slightly richer mix in the hole (half dirt, half compost) and replant it...
getting eaten like that must have stressed it out, and it can take several years to recover, which it will not, if the ground is depleted (and they are heavy feeders, those rhubies...)
