The problem exist in 1 corner of the kitchen and bathroom.Neither room has an exhaust fan in them.Moisture has been the issue.The house in Utah was built in 1919.

Hi there, I've found that plaster can be fixed just like a hole in drywall. Create a "patch" to completely cover the hole (I like fiberglass sheet rock tape for this) and then cover it with plaster/joint compound, allow to dry and keep adding until you completely cover it. From there it would be some experimenting to create the exact texture of your plaster.

I have also used thin drywall to stabilize a hole, and then plastered over it, and the patch is still good 30 years later.
