White 'magic-sponge' are amazzzing!! just the trick....I use them every day, and no cleaning agents , just fill the sponge with water, and squeeze out the excess.

I love Murphy Oil Soap for this; have also used dish detergent, either Dawn or Palmolive grease-cutter varieties, but it does also depend on whether they're metal, painted wood, stained wood etc. Murphy's is the 'safer' of these suggestions.

If they are coated with cooking oils then it is likely that the finish has softened, so be prepared to loose some of the finish with the scrubbing. Detergent is designed to break down oils. If your plan is to refinish the cabinets I recommend a final wash with TSP.

I like Simple Green mixed to your preferred concentration(probably 50/50 for this job). It doesn't get soapy so it rinses easily. Use a Scrubby sponge designed for Teflon/delicate surfaces so as not to scratch the finish. And patience, LOTS of patience!
