Trees may be too big. What about flower pots? And some flowering vines for your archway?
Hang wall Baskets from your Brick walls in the Porch.
I think it looks busy and pretty enough with your colorful flowers, etc. I'd put a bright tall skinny pot in one corner next to your door with a tall thin plant.
First, I would never use artificial near real. I would find size appropriate planters for the area and use "shade" loving plants. I have done this in the past and brought them in for the winter. (I make sure my plants are pet safe first. I clean them off well before I bring them in to avoid inviting bugs inside. (I've been lucky with that so far!!) Some plants I used were: Bromeliad (for height), prayer plants (they will hang some & get tiny pretty flowers). I LOVE Rex Begonias! Their leaves are BEAUTIFUL and come in many varieties (they also bloom small flowers too). And INSTEAD of "Ivy" - (English Ivy is NOT pet safe) - Ficus Pumila (has almost heart-shaped leaves) - it vines and is great potted on a shady porch and inside (I do want to say that there are some amazing artificial plants out there though!) Good luck! You could also hang some of these plants on the brick wall (opposite of your door handle). These days there are many options do hang plants on a wall - I've even seen plants hung like this in airports! Good luck!
I would do 2 pots since it's already pretty, the trees might be too big and busy.
Your landscape is not to busy, shrubs ,may need pruning. There is no reason you cannot use artificial with real many do it all the time
I would get two 10-12" pots. Purchase 2 sky pencils, put them in the pots and put one on each side of yout front door. Keep in mind, you can keep them small by trimming them. Just google: pictures of sky pencils.
Your home is beautiful, adding to it would take away from the established landscape. I would brighten your front door in a lighter, or bolder color. I am sure whatever your decision, it will be inviting.
Thank you for all your opinions & ideas..I will post a picture when I put up my final result
Barb, I purchased a artificial Christmas tree, it's 4 foot tall and skinny. I put it in a 1 foot tall container. I had to bend the legs, of the stand, , so it would fit, inside the container. I put lights on it (white). Most of the time it has artificial birds on it. But sometime, I decorated it, as the seasons changed. Or the holidays changed, so did the decorations. So after 20 years, it's time for a change. I bought an artificial bamboo plant, it's 7 foot tall and I put an up light at the bottom, The light shines through the bamboo. An casts a nice shadow on the wall. Barb, I am sure whatever you do, it will look beautiful. Happy Thanksgiving, to you, and your family. 😇
