You can paint it, but it must be prepared and painted correctly to avoid warping. You should also paint it the original shade or lighter, because a darker shade will attract too much heat, and make it buckle.

Painting vinyl siding
Yes, you can paint your vinyl siding. They actually make a paint for this exact purpose now. If you have shutters, you can paint them too. Use a pressure washer to clean siding first. Wait til dry then go ahead and paint. I recommend using a Wagner power painter, or something similar. It will make the whole job so much easier.
You can paint it, you just want to get the proper paint since vinyl will tend to expand and contract with changing temperatures
