What is the easiest way to install floating shelves?

I want floating shelves in my bath, but don't want to ruin my walls.

I used macrame and 2 boards. One for eack corner and they all come together at the top and you hang them like a plant hanger, only you make holes in the boards on each corner. I saw it in a macrame book and did it with my girlfriend in high school. Later I made hanging fish bowl hangers .
