If there was dye transfer, I don't think there is much you can do about that. If she has water stains, check this out for minimizing the water stain. I would let HER do the work, that way you will have been helpful, but cannot be blamed if it gets worse. Remember the old adage, "No good deed goes unpunished." Use saddle soap, you can find it at an automotive store, read the directions on the can. It will leave a nice shine.
