This refrigerator seems to run more than it should. We have just had the compressor replaced on this 2 year old, stainless steel appliance.

What does cold mean? Freezing or just cool to the touch?

Really cold, almost like there is no insulation in the doors. Containers coming out of the fridge are just a tad colder than the outside surface of the doors. Seals appear to be flat against the casing and the outside of the fridge is about room temperature. R.E.M.

I really recommenced an infra red heat "gun" Then you can get the actual temperature. I use ours to check coffee, soup and anything re heated in the microwave, for air leaks around any outside opening, doors, windows. I use it more than once every day. If you have a trailer, you can use it to check the bearing housing temperature, and SO many times, just point and shoot, and there is the temp. Usually less than $30. We have TWO

Thank you for your help. I have a non-contact thermometer I'll use to get the temperature. It bothers me that the main cabinet of the fridge feels about room temp but the front of the doors are very much colder than any other outside part of the appliance. Thanks again for your advice. REM

Check to see what the difference is between where the fridge temp is set and what the accrual temp in the fridge is at. Like checking the temp on your oven for accuracy.

Check under it, for it may need cleaning. There maybe a lot of dust, on the coils, and this will slow the cooling process down, also. J.

Cleaned under it when compressor was replaced about a month ago. I was surprised at the small amount of dust and lint in the "engine room" as the fridge had been in use for almost 2 years before the compressor had to be replaced. R.E.M.

This is a good habit to get into monthly, or every other month. This helps save the engine, and costs of operation, also.

    Is it still under warranty?

    Call the dealer.

Call the company and tell them you think your fridge is defective.

Parts under warranty but nothing else. Sears is the dealer and I have already contacted Sears Corporate. Got the compressor problem fixed but still have this issue with very cold doors and seemingly constant running. Thanks for your interest and suggestions. REM
