I like to use the foot step on bulb planter.
I personally would be fearful of using a motorized auger drill attachment Unless it was a 2 person pair up.

Step on the shovel and let it go in the dirt about 6 inches. Then push the shovel back to open the gash. Drop the bulb in. When you remove the shovel the bulb will be covered. Repeat.
