Kitchen update tips?

I'm considering an update on kitchen, is ther an order to steps? I'm keeping cabinets and appliances, but not sure which other things to do when, like floors, tile regroup and repair, sink replacement, light fixture replacement?
I'm at a loss as to which depends on which. Thanks

I don't think there is any special order...You redo what you feel is most important or affordable at that time. .

The first thing to do is make a plan.. make a story board (with samples of tile etc) or make a binder with printed out, pictures of the things you ordered and receipts of things purchased... you are not limited to choices at your local hardware or big box store.. but.. Remember that some stuff may have to be ordered and then shipped allow time for that... have at least one back up choice in case something is back ordered out of stock or delayed at customs...

    * Plan on how to manage meals with the kitchen out of service

    * Plan on where to park the refrigerator while painting etc is going on

    * Have rolls of heavy paper and blue tape on hand to protect surfaces like new counter tops and floors. And how to SAFELY cover up appliances

    * Decide if now is the time to replace the garbage disposal... new sink, new disposal... upgrading water lines to dish washer, ice maker, new gas line for the stove.. etc...etc...etc.

*Order your new sink (you will need it installed or on hand for measuring the new counter tops. (disposal and faucets installed later) now is a good time to upgrade your sink... shop online.. (we found an apron front sink in stainless steel for under $700 including shipping at SignatureHardware.com.. which was LOTS less than the $2000 quoted at our local Lowe's.) We also found some of our cabinet hardware there too... a good source to check out.

    * Order your new light fixtures or Faucets

*are you replacing your counter tops.. with granite, quartz, butcher block, more laminate..... there will be a time frame for ordering the new stuff..getting it made or cut or milled to fit and getting it shipped or delivered and installed (if you are getting granite or quartz... HAVE them measure and install it for you... that way replacement is covered if something happens to it like it getting dropped... or cut wrong) have them tell you if they make the holes for the new faucets)

    * Install new back splash once counter tops are installed.

**While you are waiting for stuff to be made or shipped... wash (with TSP) walls and cabinets. Sand, Prime and paint inside and out. remove cabinet doors (use blue tape and sharpie to label each one A/A, B/B etc so each door goes back on the cabinet it came off of.. pull out drawers for painting...remove drawer and door hardware and pulls...

Remove old flooring, if that is a part of the plan. Make any repairs to floors and install new flooring.

Install all the new stuff.... WOW... an extra Christmas ...!! and Enjoy!
