How can I kill Bradford pear roots/stump of a cut down tree?
The roots had twice broken our water line so we cut down this 60 foot tree. Roots sprout up all over the yard! Help! How do I kill a tree stump?
There is a way, and you have to cut the trunk, and drill holes into it, and then put something on it. It takes 2 yrs to totally kill, but it will happen. Do write to this co., and ask them. They run this info every so often, but I can't tell you for sure. Best wishes, J.
cut the roots back
you stand a good chance of killing the tree If you try to kill the roots. If the tree is on your property, I’d just have the tree taken down, and then you can deal with the roots, if that’s a big concern.
if you drill holes into the roots and then pour weed killer into the hole with out diluting it it will eventually rot away
Boiling water should it. Dead tree roots means dead trees though. You should cut down the trees before killing the roots.
😊
Be careful - You may kill the tree...
I would go to your local hardware store, and ask the clerk, who works in the soil, and grass/tree dept. I don't this hometalk will allow us to name the store, but it is a nation wide large business. I hope this helps you. I know that you must drill into the stump, and put some of the solution on it, and within 2 yrs it will be ready to break off at the grass level. Our neighbor had one, and did this, and we saw this take effect. I do not know if this was harmful to animals, tho to hers, it did no harm., tho if you have animals, you may want to put up a wicker fence, just to be sure. That is all I can say, but these folks can help you. OR - go to www.hometalk@killingtrees.com, and this may help you, or lead you in the right direction. Best wishes, J.
