The Garden Frog with C Renee on Mar 27, 2014Last #7 is an Aucuba and it looks to have some cold damage. I have several which I propagated and this winter was very hard on them. It will come out and you may just need to do a little pruning. Picture #5 I labeled and they are Peonies coming up. I am not positive from the picture but it looks like an azalea in #6 and it may just have frost/freeze damage as well. I would wait another month or two to see what it does. If it is an azalea, you may get some blooms and then you can prune it. #4 actually looks like a type of peony too. You are going to find many things! What a great surprise! happy gardening!Helpful Reply

Debbie Chapman on Mar 29, 2014I think #4 & #5 are peonies. They can have different looks to their foliage. You might want to try to put a support over them now before they grow taller, and flop over with heavy blooms. They will look much better that way. I use peony cages, which are wider & shorter than tomato cages. It will be so exciting to see what they look like blooming! By the way, if I cut peonies for a vase, I let them sit outside in water and vase overnight, so that I don't end up with ants or other bugs in my house :-) I don't know what the other photos are of. Enjoy discovering your new plants!Helpful Reply
