Poor little cabinet, underneath a pile, destine to go into the land fill. Dug out and there was evidence there was still life.
Before
There was a sticky haze over the entire piece, it had been out in a garage under parts, grease you name it, there had been many families that had been habituating in it very comfortably for years.
With a lot of patience, and a mixture of vinegar, water, dish soap and "goop", lots of scrubbing, vacuuming, and scraping paint off of what I thought was glass, when I would get down with one part, I would have to pry my hands off the other, they had adhered to it. I think the combination was such as nicotine, car oil, bug guts, rat feces, and probably every other chemical used in that garage over the past 100 years. Yes, I started wearing gloves pretty quickly.
After cleaning it to a shine, there where a few places that needed sanding, I lightly sanded these places, put a light stain on it and waxed it to a beautiful wood sheen, Added a "Memories" on the top, put it in my kitchen and filled it will little items that I don't get to enjoy in my big display case. I am pretty happy for $3.00.
After filling it up with items, it turned out pretty well.
The stencil I added to the top.
Even the wood look nice and shiny and clean.
The door no longer sticks!

LOL I found one like it and put it in the shop for nails & screws I sorted out into plastic mayo & pbutter jars. We both did well with these VERY useful shelves.
