Rhonda B on Mar 31, 2014I have been wintersowing (in zone 5) since 2007 with great success. I find that seeds that are difficult to germinate (i.e. scarification, stratification, double dormancy) fare better when wintersown than started any other way. I usually sow those type of seeds in late Dec or early Jan. I sow my annuals in March and April. Germination usually begins around early April, but most don't germinate until May. The best part of wintersowing is no damping off and no hardening off! As Luis says visit the wintersowing forum on Gardenweb, that is where I originally learned about wintersowing and I still visit the board on a regular basis. You can also go to wintersown.org and there is a wintersowers facebook page if you facebook. Hope this helps:-)Helpful Reply
