Susan Velon on Apr 01, 2014I make my own chalk paint. I use 1/2 cup of powdered calcium carbonate to 1 cup latex paint. Mix them together, add a few drops of water if needed, and paint away. Only prep needed is to wash the piece you are going to paint. If there is peeling paint you would want to remove that first but usually there is no priming or sanding needed before starting to paint.Helpful Reply

Gretchen on Apr 02, 2014I think people like it because of the "no prep" aspect but it is also very versatile. You can create so many different looks, depending on how it is applied and waxed. It is easy to use because it dries quickly and it has an easy clean up. It seems expensive for the amount of paint you get, but it really does cover a lot of wood! Try it!Helpful Reply
