Winter's Harsh Temps Leaving Your Lawn Frightful?

The grass appears to be covered in a strange "coating" that resembles penicillin growing on month old food in the back of a dorm fridge. Are you experiencing winter damage to your lawn? I had not seen my lawn in this state before. All I could think was "My lawn is dying". I need answers. And, I need help!

go ahead and thatch and aerate and add some spring fertilizer.
