Meet Antoinette - Gray Antiqued Armoire

I love restoring furniture. I day dream about it constantly, and I get even more excited when I run into a piece like this one. All though this piece wasn't completely ugly before hand- the previous owner had definitely put it through the ringer. Molding was falling off everywhere and there were tons of huge gashes taken out of the piece. The previous owner had tried to fix it so many times with wood glue, that it looked like a huge mess of glue and wood. It was honestly beyond repair, and the only way to make it look beautiful again was with a new paint job.
This piece was extremely heavy, so instead of making my husband put it together for just a photo, I took the before photos of each piece separately.
I kept all the original hardware because it has a lovely aged patina that goes with the room it's currently in. I painted the inside with Sherwin Williams Shoji White mixed with Blue Minerals Chalk & Mineral Paint Powder to give it a soft chalky feel and look (plus I didn't want to sand or prep the piece). The inside was painted in Wordly Gray, which is just a slightly darker version of Shoji White, but I didn't take any photos of the inside (sorry).
I used a new product called Blue Minerals Antiquing Powder to accent all the beautiful carvings on this piece, and to give it an overall aged look. (I used the color Wrought Iron for this piece, which is a gorgeous warm grey color).
I loved working with the Antiquing Powder. This is the second project I got to use it on, and I am in LOVE. Wrought Iron so far is my favorite color - I have been putting it on almost everything since I completed this piece a few weeks ago.
One last look at the final piece. She is in my bedroom now and holds our T.V and I love it! We are painting the walls the same darker shade of grey that's on the inside of this hutch. You can see info on this project on the blog!
