Chose my area rugs!

Heather Bastianelli
by Heather Bastianelli
A while back I asked for opinions on three area rugs I was trying to decide on for my kitchen and family room. I can't find where my original post went so I'm posting my before and afters here. My choices were based on opinions here as well as price and ability to hide dirt, etc. here they are! What do you think? I am in the process of adding some character to my family room so please ignore the random wall hangings...

The rugs are beautiful! Bright and colorful. You do have a problem with their size though. Ideally, the dining room chairs should fit on the rug when pushed back from table with room to spare! That rug makes your dining room furniture look a little pinched or cramped. It needs another foot all the way around. Would it work to swap rugs? In generall, living room rugs are fine as long as the front half of the furniture in your seating area sits on the rug. I can see the dining room is smaller but is there any chance the living room and dining room rugs can be flipped since the rooms adjoin?

yeah the dining room rug is too small. while it looks good, it will irritate people when they go to get in or out of a chair and keep going from wood floor to carpet. standard is rug should be big enough that the rug ends minimum 20 inches behind the chairs. However i love the color in the chevron and and love the floral print rugs.
