Working Towards Stone Look Walls With Knock Down Texture

I'm working on a basement update and I don't want to put up drywall, so I'm going for the "rustic" look on the cement walls.
I'm shooting for a stone-ish kind of look and my first step was to add a knock down texture.
I used a product called Homax Roll-On Texture. My sister was willing to help me get this job done, as I was a little afraid to tackle it myself. It could be done by one person, but having two is better. One person rolls on the mixture and the other does the knockdown technique.
The product gets mixed with water and it's ready to roll on and then knocked down. It was incredibly easy to use, there was barely any clean up, AND it is paintable after a 24hr dry time.

I'm curious to see how it looks after the paint/glaze step. This was an interesting choice. Is it kind of like stucco, only smoother? Eventually I'm going to tackle our cellar, but it's going to have to wait until the living spaces get finished. And, judging by how much I got done in the past five months, it'll be awhile! I would love to see how your basement comes out!

@Lisa Thank you. Our basement has been a slow process, as well, but we are getting their bit by bit. I will post updates as we go. A cellar sounds like it would be a lot of fun to decorate, but in the meantime, good luck on the rest of your living spaces ~ Amy

I did basically the same over trailer walls (every other wall alternating around rooms in house was paneling next to wallpaper board--drove me nuts) I used drywall plaster now they look like a smooth stucco love it :)

@Cynthia E That's good to know that drywall plaster would work, as well. I wasn't sure, so I didn't want to take the chance, but glad to know that would work, too. I think I'm really going to like this when it's all said and done. Thank you!
