DIY Potting Bench From Reclaimed Fencing and Free Finds

While visiting my daughter for the weekend, we put this customized potting bench together using some old fencing and some free finds she had in her garage. The only thing she purchased was the hardware.
She was very specific in what she wanted- scoop soil from the left to a slatted piece on the right that allows the soil to fall through to a container.
We used a former privacy fence gate, 2x4's and 4x4's, slatted display shelves and 2 sections of shorter, more narrow fence sections.
The upper shelf on the left is for potting soil. The shallow shelf on the right is to hold a container to catch spilled potting soil.
She wanted doors to hide it all away. The two "lids" on the top are removable.

Yvonne Moore on Apr 24, 2014I'd like something similar in my kitchen to put more storage in without the big expense of custom shelves and cabinets.

Elizabeth Sagarminaga on Dec 11, 2014Nice work, but needs lot of work and effort. But yes, you have applied nice creative ideas to make that wonderful shelf. One cannot easily make out that old fences have been used for creating that shelf. Great going. :)
